The Layering System

1. **Base layer**: Moisture-wicking synthetics or merino wool

2. **Mid layer**: Fleece or lightweight down for insulation

3. **Outer layer**: Waterproof/windproof shell

Quick-dry travel towel

Headlamp with extra batteries

First-aid kit with blister care

Reusable water bottle with filter

Dry bags for electronics

Multi-tool (pack in checked luggage)

3-4 tops, 2 bottoms (mix & match)

1 pair of hiking boots, 1 pair of sandals

Merino wool socks (can wear multiple days without smell)

Buff or bandana (multipurpose)

Your luggage should be 40% of what you think you need. If you're unsure about an item, leave it. You can buy almost anything at your destination.
